Shardiya Navratri starts from the Pratipada date of Shukla Paksha in the month of Ashwin. During these nine days, nine forms of Mother Adishakti are worshipped. Navratri comes to an end on the Navami Tithi and the next day in the month of Ashwin, the festival of Dussehra or Vijayadashami is celebrated with pomp across the country on the tenth day of Shukla Paksha.
Dussehra or Vijayadashami is celebrated every year as a symbol of the victory of good over evil. As per Hindu Panchang, the festival of Dussehra i.e. Vijay Dashami is celebrated on the tenth day. On this day Lord Rama killed the arrogant Ravana and saved the earth from his wrath. It is also celebrated as a celebration of the victory of Goddess Durga over the demon Mahishadur. This festival is considered a symbol of the victory of good over evil.
Lord Rama is worshipped on the day of Dussehra or Vijay Dashami. By chanting the name of this Ram, all the troubles of the devotees are removed. Also, on this day the farmers celebrate new crops. Warriors worship weapons on this day and by doing so they celebrate their victory
How to worship on Dussehra
On this day, all the family members get up early in the morning and take a bath and wear clean clothes.
Sanitize all the weapons by sprinkling Ganges water on them.
After this, apply tilak on all the weapons with turmeric or kumkum and offer flowers.
Offer flowers to Goddess.
