The second day of Navratri is dedicated to the worship of Maa Brahmacharini. This form of Goddess Durga symbolizes the severe penance performed by Goddess Parvati, and her unmarried form is worshiped as Goddess Brahmacharini. Navratri is the auspicious Hindu festival, the time to worship the nine incarnations of Goddess Durga. Each day of this festival has a different significance and is dedicated to the nine incarnations of Maa Durga.They are Shailputri, Brahmacharini, Chandraghanta, Kushmanda, Skanda Mata, Katyayani, Kalratri, Mahagauri and Siddhidatri.

Story of Maa Brahmacharini
Maa Brahmacharini is depicted as walking barefoot in white clothes. She has two hands and holds a chanting rosary in her right hand and a kamandal in her left hand. The Rudraksh Mala represents her penance for Shiva during her forest life. The kamandala, a water vessel, symbolizes the last years of his penance and how she had only water and nothing else. The lotus attached to the body of the goddess symbolizes wisdom, and the white sari represents purity.

It is believed that Maa Brahmacharini rules over Mars among the planets.

Who is the provider of all fortune and represents the Swadhisthana Chakra in sadhana. Additionally, Goddess Parvati is said to have done severe penance for thousands of years to get Lord Shiva as her husband. Despite the harsh weather conditions, his penance continued with unshakable determination. Due to this she got the name Tapasacharini. She ate only bilva leaves and then lived on water. Later, seeing her intense penance, Lord Brahma blessed her and eventually Maa Brahmacharini married Lord Shiva.
