Mata Mavli Temple, Women are not allowed in this temple of Goddess

There is a unique tradition of the temple of Adi Shakti Mata Mavli, located in village Purur, five kilometers from Dhamtari, Chhattisgarh where Entry of women in the temple is prohibited.

It is a belief of the temple that the wishes of the devotees are fulfilled just by the sight of the mother. Devotees from far and wide are reaching here to get the blessings of the mother.166 Jyots had been lit here last  Navratri.  

Temple priests Shyamlal Sahu and Shiv Thakur told that this Mavli Mata temple is years old. The priest (Baiga) here told that he once had a dream. Mother Mavli, who came out of the womb, appeared and the mother told that Baiga that she is still a virgin, so women should be barred from coming here for my darshan Since then only men reach this temple for darshan.

Devotees throng the temple since morning. When the vow is fulfilled, many devotees arrive with offerings. 166 lamps have been lit in this Navratri .Apart from Chhattisgarh, devotees also reach from other states for the darshan of Mata Mavli. Continuous beautification work is going on in Adi Shakti Mavli Mata Temple a garden has been built in the temple, where rose, gond, sunflower, sevanti flowers have become the center of attraction.

The fragrance of flowers scattered around the temple is falling apart.As there is a tradition of barring the entry of women in the temple. A small temple has been constructed in the premises for worship, where women can after seeing the mother, she asks for her wishes.

Women offer salt, chilli, rice, pulses, sari, chunari etc. As offerings. Village Rambati, Sushila, Champabai  told that it is forbidden for women to go inside here, so all the women visit from outside. If they have some wishes after visiting the temple established outside the temple, they ask for their vows.
