In the Sanatan tradition, the Ekadashi date of Shukla Paksha of Bhadrapada month has a lot of religious significance because on this day the festival of change Ekadashi or Dol Gyaras is celebrated. This holy festival is mainly celebrated in Madhya Pradesh and North India.This holy date is also known as Jaljulni Ekadashi festival. On this day, a special doll is prepared for Lord Krishna by adorning the child's form.On this day, Ekadashi fasting, which showers the blessings of Lord Vishnu, is kept with full rituals. The festival of Dol Gyaras or Jaljulni Ekadashi will be celebrated this year on 06 September 2022.

Dol Gyaras auspicious time
Ekadashi of Shukla Paksha of Bhadrapada month will start from 05:54 am on 06 September and will remain till 03:04 am on 07 September 2022. Whereas the time of Parana (breaking of the fast) will be from 08:19 to 08:33 in the morning.

Worship method of Dol Gyaras or Jal Jhulani Ekadashi
On this holy date dedicated to the worship of Shri Hari, after taking bath in the morning, the seeker should worship Lord Vishnu or his Vamana avatar or Lord Shri Krishna with incense, lamp, yellow flowers, yellow fruits, yellow sweets etc. . On the day of worship of Dol Gyaras, seven Kumbhs are established by filling seven types of grains and one of them is worshiped by placing an idol of Shri Vishnu ji on top of the Kumbh.These Kumbhs are donated to a Brahmin on the next day after the fast is over. Rice should not be consumed even in this fast.

Religious Significance of Dol Gyaras or Varivarti Ekadashi
The holy festival of Dol Gyaras is mainly celebrated for the worship of Lord Vishnu, fasting and sun worship of his incarnation Lord Krishna. It is believed that on this day Lord Krishna went out for a city tour with Mother Yashoda and Nand Baba for the first time. This is the reason that on this day Kanha is adorned with new clothes etc. After this, a procession is taken out by placing Lord Shri Krishna in a palanquin with music. On this day, after seeing Lord Krishna, devotees circumambulate under his palanquin. This holy festival is also called Jaljhuni Ekadashi and on this day Vamana avatar of Lord Vishnu is worshiped by observing fast according to the law. It is believed that Lord Vishnu changes his side on this day, that is why it is also called Varivarti Ekadashi.
