Sharad Purnima 2025: When is Sharad Purnima? Know the Auspicious muhrat and Puja Vidhi.

Sharad Purnima 2025

Sharad Purnima, also known as Ashwin Purnima, is considered a highly sacred day in Hindu tradition. It is believed that on this night, the moon appears in its fullest form with all sixteen kalas (qualities). Each kala is associated with a human quality, and they represent a complete personality together.

Therefore, worshipping the moon on the day of Sharad Purnima is considered highly auspicious. Newlywed women, who take a pledge to do Purnamasi fasting for the year, begin the fast from the day of Sharad Purnima. In Gujarat, Sharad Purnima is popularly known as Sharad Poonam.

Significance of Sharad Purnima

On this day, the moon not only shines with all its sixteen Kalas, but is also believed to have healing and nourishing effects for both body and mind. It is also believed that the moon rays on the day of Sharad Purnima drip nectar.

To receive its blessings, devotees prepare rice kheer and leave it overnight under the moonlight. The next morning, the kheer is considered energised by the moon, and then it is consumed and shared as prasad.
