Chaitra Navratri Day 8

On the eighth day of Chaitra Navratri, we worship Maa Mahagauri. This day is known as Durga Ashtami or Mahashtami. This day is significant for performing special rituals to seek her blessings. She symbolises faith and grace, and worshipping her with proper rituals and devotion brings happiness in married life and fulfils desires.

On this day, it is important to wake up early, take a bath, and wear pink clothing, which symbolises love, affection and harmony. 

1. Clean the temple area and sprinkle it with Gangajal.
2. Install an idol or picture of Maa Mahagauri.
3. Light a diya with ghee in front of the Goddess and offer vermillion (Sindoor), akshat (rice), and flowers, particularly jasmine.
4. Offering bhog (food) of coconut to the Goddess is considered auspicious, as it symbolises prosperity and strength.

During the worship, recite the Durga Chalisa or the Durga Saptashati. Conclude the rituals by performing Aarti and distributing Prasad (blessed food).
