According to the Hindu Panchang, Chaitra Navratri begins on the Pratipada tithi of the Shukla Paksha of the month of Chaitra. This year, the festival will begin on 19th March and end on 26th March. On 19th March, devotees will perform the Kalash Sthapana and offer prayers to the Goddess Shailputri. Place a coin, a betel nut (supari), and some rice grains inside the Kalash, and cover it with mango leaves. Next, place a coconut upon it and cover it with a red cloth.
Perform meditation and offer roli, mauli, turmeric, rice, flowers, fruits, and sweets to the Goddess.
After this, light a ghee diya, incense, and agarbatti. Then, recite the sacred story (Katha) and perform the Aarti.
Finally, offer prayers and ask for forgiveness for your mistakes.
Special Offerings for Goddess Shailputri
According to belief, Goddess Shailputri's favourite offerings (Bhog) are food items prepared using pure cow's ghee, such as sweets and Kheer. Additionally, you can also offer Makhana Kheer to the Goddess. It is said that whoever offers favourite bhog to the Goddess Shailputri receives the blessing of good health and gets free from sorrow and poverty.
