After that, Chhaya also had 2 children named Shani and Tapti, but Chhaya did not love Yama and Yamuna and her behavior towards both was not good.

Both Yam and Yamuna are very sad about this and Yam then builds his separate city Yamnagari far away from there and Yamuna also goes to Golok. Yamuna used to love her brother Yam very much and used to request Yam to come to her house again and again, but due to his busy schedule, Yam was not able to go to meet his sister. Then one day on the second day of Kartik Shukla Paksha, he goes to his sister's house, seeing this his sister Yamuna is very happy. She welcomes her brother by applying tilak and performing aarti and serves various dishes to her brother.

Yamraj is very happy with the respect and hospitality given by his sister Yamuna. Then while leaving he asks his sister to ask for the desired boon. His sister says Brother please give such a boon that any brother-sister who takes a bath in my water i.e. Yamuna on this day i.e. on the third day of Kartik Shukla Paksha, will be freed from the tortures of Yamraj, on this Yamraj fulfilled his sister's wish. Since then the festival of Bhai Dooj has been celebrated.
