
The Ekadashi that occurs every year during the Krishna Paksha of the Jyeshtha month is known as Apara Ekadashi. Observing a fast and performing proper rituals on Apara Ekadashi gets one free from all the sins. This year, the Jyeshtha Ekadashi Tithi will begin on 12 May at 2:52 PM and will end on 13 May at 1:29 PM. Therefore, the Apara Ekadashi fast will be observed on 13 May, and the Parana will be done on 14 May. The auspicious time for breaking the fast (Parana) will be from 5:31 AM to 8:13 AM. On the day of Apara Ekadashi, plucking the Tulsi leaves or watering is strictly prohibited. Also, on Dwadashi, Tulsi is not watered, nor leaves plucked. Goddess Tulsi is one of the beloved devotees of Lord Vishnu and is also considered to be a form of Goddess Lakshmi.
