It is mentioned in Tamil Sangam literature dating from 1,500 years to Murugan according to the Shruta tradition. In fact, the so-called Kartikeya in Northern India is known as Murugan in the South. Swamimalai

Palani

The most famous temple here is Palani. Here Murugan is in the form of a student, who is punished at his hands. That is why he is called Dandipati. Here he had left his father's house, Shiva, on Mount Kailash because of Ganapati's discrimination against his father.

Pazhamudhircholai

Here he is worshiped as. He lives with his two wives Divya Devayani and Lakshya Valli. Shiva also lives here in his own strength. This is where two different views reside and that is the beauty of the local Hindutva.
