The festival of Shardiya Navratri is the most beautiful occasion to worship Goddess Durga. Nine days of Navratri are dedicated to a special form of Goddess Durga. On the second day of Navratri, Maa Brahmacharini, the second form of Goddess Durga, is worshipped. 'Brahma' means penance, and 'Charini' means one who conducts. This means the Goddess who performs penance is Maa Brahmacharini. She is depicted as chanting a rosary in one hand and holding a kamandal in the other hand. This form of the Goddess inspires us to have patience, restraint, and sacrifice in life and to stick to our goals even in difficult times.
Favorite Offering: Offering sugar, mishri, and Panchamrit to Maa Brahmacharini is considered very auspicious. Doing this helps one get the blessings of a long life and a healthy body.
Auspicious Colour: It is considered extremely auspicious to worship while wearing white or yellow coloured clothes on the second day. White color is a symbol of peace and purity.
If there are frequent troubles or mental stress in your house, then on the second day after the puja, offer mishri to the goddess and then distribute that prasad among small children or girls. This creates an atmosphere of happiness and peace in the house.
Goddess Brahmacharini is very fond of the lotus flower or white Kaner flower. Offering white flowers at the feet of Goddess during puja removes the ongoing obstacles in life and keeps the mind calm.
For those who practice yoga, this is the day to awaken the Swadhisthana Chakra. Meditating on this day removes restlessness from the mind and brings positivity in life.
