Ganesh Chaturthi is coming soon, this time because of corona people will not be able to celebrate it with as much fanfare as they used to celebrate every year. But you can worship Ganesha at home and you can offer Bappa's favourite sweet modak at home. Modak is a popular dessert made on the occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi in Maharashtra. Modak is easily available in the market but you can also make it at home if you want.
If you go to the sweet shop, you will easily find steamed modaks, fried modaks, including chocolate modaks and dry fruit modaks. However, this time people will not be able to buy sweets from outside due to corona, so make it at home. Most people like to make modaks at home on the occasion of Ganesh Utsav so this time you can also make them at home easily with our recipe.

Ingredients to make modaks:
Coconut in sweet flour
nutmeg
saffron

Modak making method
1. If you are making modaks at home, heat a pan on a heat and add grated coconut and jaggery.
2. Run the mixture for five minutes, then mix nutmeg and saffron in it.
3. Cook the mixture again after five minutes and then remove the bricks from the heat and place it on the side.

How to prepare modaks
1. First add water and ghee to a bowl and boil it well, add salt and flour after boiling and mix well.
2. Cover the pot and leave the mixture for a little to cook, when the mixture is halved, apply a little ghee on a steel bowl.
3. Knead the lightly heated dough well, then make a small dough and press lightly. Prepare its edges in the shape of a flower.
4. Place the mixture prepared for modak in the middle and close it by adding the edges around it.
5. Now place them on a muslin cloth and cook them in steam for about 10 to 15 minutes. And remove and serve.

Why offer modaks to Ganapati in prasad?
 In the worship of Ganapati, the god of riddhi siddhi, modaks are especially consumed as prasad. Modak Ganapati is said to love it very much. But mythological beliefs are hidden behind it. According to the Puranas, ganapati and parshuram were at war when one of Ganapati's teeth was broken. This made it difficult for them to eat. In view of their distress, some dishes were prepared that were easy to eat and did not cause toothache. One of the same dishes was modak. Modak is very soft to eat. It is believed that Shri Ganesh aliked modak and since then he has become his favourite sweet. So the devotees began to enjoy modaks to please Ganesha. However, modak saith in some mythological theology. Modak means happiness or happiness. Ganesha is considered to be the God of happiness and good deeds, so he is also offered modaks.
