The month of Sawan is beginning from 25th July 2021 and will end on 22nd August 2021. This is the fifth month of the Hindu calendar; it is also considered the month of Shravan. As per the beliefs, this month is the auspicious &favourite month for Lord Shiva. The devotees of Lord Shiva eagerly wait for the month of Sawan month. In the auspicious month of Sawan, the devotees of Shiva bring Kavad and perform the Abhishek of Lord Shiva with the gangajal filled in that Kanvad. Monday has utmost importance which is in the month of Sawan. Sawan Somwar fast is kept for the fulfilment of wishes. Worshiping Lord Shiva on this day fulfils all the wishes & desires. Hence, in the Hindu religion, Sawan somwar has special importance.

The mythology behind the month of Sawan
As per the legend, it is said that In the Devasura battle, the poison that came out of the churning of the ocean was consumed by Lord Shiva, Kailashpati. Due to which his body became very hot & after that lord, Shiva started suffering a lot. Indra dev rained heavily to get Lord Shiva out of this suffering. It is told that this incident took place in the month of Sawan. Like this way, Lord Shiva saved the world by consuming poison. Since then it is believed that Lord Shiva removes the sufferings of his devotees very quickly during the month of Sawan.

Significance of Sawan Month
This month is very dear to Lord Shiva; this is the reason that worshiping Lord Shiva during this period is fruitful. All wishes are fulfilled, or desires are fulfilled by worshiping lord Shiva devoutly. Especially the worship, fasting, measures performed on Sawansomwar are said to provide immediate results. Worshiping Lord Shiva and Mother Parvati together gives a boon of good fortune; financial troubles will also go away.

Take care of these things while worshiping on Shravan somwar
While worshiping Lord Shiva in the auspicious month of Shravan, one should take care of some special things. For example, Ketaki flowers should not be used while worshiping lord Shiva. It is said that Lord Shiva gets angry by offering Ketki flowers. Also, in Tulsi, coconut water should not be offered to Lord Shiva. This should never be placed or offered to Shivling. Lord Shiva should always be offered water from bronze and brass utensils.

Worshiping lord shiva in the month of Sawan and fasting on somwar will give these benefits-
1. It is best to take the resolution of fasting on Monday in Sawan. Apart from Sawan, Monday fast can be observed in other months also.

2. Whether there is age or health problem in the horoscope or there is any problem related to mental health, all problems will get rid of.

3. Monday is the day of the moon planet and Lord Shiva is the controller of the moon, so worshiping on this day not only gives the blessings of the moon but also gives the blessings of Lord Shiva.
