Many important festivals including Raksha Bandhan and Hariyali Teej come in the month of Sawan and hence this month is very special. Hariyali Teej has special significance for the married people. 

When is Hariyali Teej 

Hartalika Teej is celebrated on Tritiya of Shukla Paksha of Ashadh month, which will start this year on 31st July 2022 at 6.30 am. In such a situation, the auspicious time of worship for women who observe fast on this day is from 6.30 am to 8.33 am. 

How to celebrate Hariyali Teej 

The Tritiya of Shukla Paksha of Sawan month is celebrated as Hariyali Teej. This fast is very important for married women. This festival of faith, enthusiasm, beauty and love is celebrated to commemorate the reunion of Shiva-Parvati. Due to the greenery all around, it is called Hariyali Teej. Between the drizzling showers, the body and mind start dancing. Women swing swings, sing folk songs and celebrate. 

Why celebrate Hariyali Teej 

It is believed that Mother Parvati took 107 births to get Lord Shankar as her husband. Ultimately, due to the severe austerity of Mother Parvati and in her 108th birth, Lord Shiva accepted Goddess Parvati as his wife. Since then, this fast started. On this day, the married women who worship Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati with sixteen makeups, their honeymoon remains for a long time.

This Teej is also known as Kajjali Teej in some places. A day before this Teej, make-up material comes for newly married girls from their in-laws' house. Women worship Goddess Parvati and Lord Shiva by dressing themselves with these. 

Worship Method: 

Although this festival is celebrated for three days but due to paucity of time, people celebrate it on a single day. In this, the wives keep a fast. They put new bangles, mehndi on their hands and alta on their feet and worship Maa Parvati by wearing new clothes. 

First of all, women gather in a garden or temple and decorate the idol of Mother Parvati. 

After this, after worshiping the mother, listening to the story and meditating on the husband in the mind, pray for the long life of the husband. 

At the end of the day, women dance and sing happily and swing.
