Every year, Dhanteras is celebrated on the Trayodashi tithi of the Krishna Paksha of the Kartik month. Devotees offer prayers with dedication and devotion. On this day, the God of wealth, Goddess Lakshmi, Lord Kuber, and Lord Dhanvantari are worshipped.
The Mythological scriptures state that a battle broke out between the gods (Devas) and demons (Asuras) during the Samudra Manthan to obtain Amrit. During Amrit Manthan, several divine treasures emerged from the ocean, including Goddess Lakshmi, the moon, and Neelgaay. Lord Dhanvantari also emerged from the ocean holding a kalash of Amrit. It is believed that Lord Dhanvantari appeared on the Trayodashi Tithi, which is why it is known as Dhan Trayodashi.
According to scriptures, Lord Dhanvantari is the God of wealth and is also known as the expert in treatment and Ayurveda. Several devotees worship Lord Kuber on this day, but according to ancient traditions, worshipping Lord Dhanvantari has special significance on Dhanteras. Worshipping with devotion and dedication on this day brings wealth and good fortune in one's life.
