Amarnath is a major pilgrimage center for Hindus. It is located at an altitude of 13,600 feet above sea level, 135 millimeter away, to the north-east fromSrinagar. The length of this cave is 19 meters and width is 16 meters. The cave is 11 meters high. Amarnath Cave is one of the major religious places of Lord Shiva. Amarnath is called the pilgrimage of pilgrimages because it is said that here Lord Shiva told Goddess Parvati, the secret of immortality.
AmarnathYatra 2021 :-
AmarnathYatra has been canceled for the second consecutive year. This year also devotees will not be able to visit this holy cave. The Jammu and Kashmir government on Monday decided to cancel the AmarnathYatra for the public because of covid.
TheAmarnathYatra this year will not able to start, but all traditional religious rituals will be performed at the temple inside the cave.
Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, who is also the Chairman of Shri AmarnathJiShrine Board, had a discussions with Chief Secretary Dr.Arun Kumar Mehta, DGP DilbagSingh,SecretaryShaleenKabra and Lieutenant Governor NitishKumar.Nitishkumar is the CEO of the Shrine Board.
It was directed by the Governor that the devotees should be able to attend the morning and evening aarti through web.
