Aja Ekadashi fast is observed on the Ekadashi of Krishna Paksha of Bhadrapada month. This year this fast will be observed on 3rd September, Friday. Ekadashi Tithi is dedicated to Lord Vishnu. In such a situation, worshiping Lord Vishnu on this day is considered extremely beneficial. According to religious belief, Aja Ekadashi fasting destroys all the sins of a person. One who observes this fast, after enjoying all the pleasures in the end, goes to Vishnu Lok.Ekadashi day is very important in Hindu religion. The significance of Aja Ekadashi has been known since ancient times.

Ekadashi auspicious time (muhurat)
According to the Hindu calendar, Ekadashi Tithi will start at 06.21 am on 2nd September, which will end at 7.44 am on 3rd September. The time of fasting will be from 5.30 am to 8.23 am on Saturday, 4th September.

Aja Ekadashi fasting method
After taking bath and meditation in the morning on the day of Aja Ekadashi fast, one should first take a vow to complete the fast by meditating on Shri Hari Vishnu. After this, place the idol or picture of Lord Vishnu on a yellow cloth in the northeast and give him a bath. Keep in mind that rice should not be used in the worship of Lord Vishnu. Instead of rice, place the Kalash of God on a heap of wheat, fill Ganga water in it and place betel leaves and coconut i.e. coconut on it. Make Om and Swastik from Roli in the Kalash. Specially offer yellow flowers and yellow fruits etc. to its Lord Vishnu.
One who observes this fast should not take food in the night before the day of Ekadashi. Food should not be taken even on the day of fasting. Food should be taken only after breaking the fast on the second day. Rice should not be consumed even after forgetting on the day of fasting. If possible, on the night of Aja Ekadashi, one should chant the kirtans of God while awakening. On the second day of the fast, eat your own food only after feeding a Brahmin.

Significance of Aja Ekadashi
By observing Aja Ekadashi fast with full devotion, virtuous results are attained. And the result is similar to that of Ashwamedha Yagya. One who observes this fast regularly gets salvation. It is believed that by observing this fast all sins are destroyed and the soul departs to Baikunth Dham after death.
