  • Worship at the Durga Kund Temple

The Durga Kund Temple in Varanasi is a place of immense spiritual power. According to legend, the Goddess rested here after conquering the demons Shumbh and Nishumbh. It is believed that during Navratri, the Goddess herself come to Earth, and just imagine worshipping at the Durga Kund Temple during this time will be very fruitful. Here, Goddess Adishakti Durga is in the form of a Yantra, and it is said that worshipping her removes all obstacles and troubles.

  • Sapt Chandi/Saptashati Path

The festival of Navratri celebrates the nine days during which the Goddess fought to defeat the demon Mahishasur. The Durga Saptasati Path narrates the story of Goddess Durga's battles against demons such as Mahishasura, Shumbha, Nishumbha, Chand, Mund, and Raktbeej. Considered one of the oldest temples in Kashi, the Shri Durga Kund Temple is also mentioned in the Kashi Khanda of the Skanda Purana. It was renovated by Queen Bhavani in the 17th century. The pond within the temple complex, called Durga Kund, is considered sacred to devotees. It is believed that Goddess Durga rested here after slaying Shumbha and Nishumbha, and is enshrined here in her Kushmanda form. During Sharadiya Navratri, millions of devotees from across the country arrive here to worship at the feet of the Goddess and seek her blessings.
