Maharudrabhishek (Sawan Special)
- The month of Shravan is considered extremely auspicious for finding love and brings happiness into one's life. Worshipping during this month brings blessings of Lord Shiva, and even simple efforts made by his devotees please him. While the abhishek is commonly performed with milk and water, the abhishek performed with mustard oil is also believed to be powerful and remove major obstacles in life. My Jyotish is organizing a special Shiv Mahabhishek with belpatra and mustard oil at the Shri Pashupatinath Mahadev Temple, Haridwar, and one can participate in this ritual from the comfort of your home.
Importance of Abhishek with Belpatra and mustard oil
- As per the scriptures, during the Samundra Manthan, Lord Shiva drank Halahal poison to save the world, but his body became extremely hot due to the extreme heat of Halahal poison, and then to cool him down, water and Bel leaves were continuously offered above him. Since then, the tradition of offering Belpatra on Shivalinga is being performed.
- On the other hand, mustard oil calms the effects of Saturn, Rahu-Ketu, and negative powers. Lord Shiva is the God of Gods, and he is also the only God who is worshiped by every planet. Shivpuran describes that performing abhishek of Lord Shiva with devotion and offering Belpatra in Sawan makes him happy and bestows the blessings of health, prosperity, fear-free life, and fulfillment of wishes to the devotees.
