This place is considered important according to history. Apart from being an important place for Shiva worship, this place is also considered very special for Krishna devotees. It is said that Shri Krishna chose this place to destroy the Yaduvansh, after which he ended his human leela. Worshiping here in the month of Sawan is considered very beneficial.
Shiva worship in Sawan is beneficial
According to the Puranas, Samudra Manthan is a very important event. The churning of the milky ocean i.e. Samudra Manthan took place in the month of Shravan in search of Amrit. During the churning, 14 different rubies came out of the ocean. Thirteen rubies were divided among the Devas and Asuras, however, Halahal, the 14th ruby remained untouched as it was the deadliest poison that could destroy the entire universe and every living being. Lord Shiva drank Halahal and kept the poison in his throat. Due to the effect of the poison, his throat turned blue and he came to be known as Neelkanth.
