Panchak 2026: During the period of Chaitra Navratri, the nine forms of Goddess Durga are worshipped. There are a total of four Navratris throughout the year, but Chaitra Navratri and Sharadiya Navratri are especially significant. This year, Chaitra Navratri will begin from 19th March and end on 27th March 2026.
When will Panchak begin?
In astrology, the influence of planets and nakshatras has a major impact on the lives of individuals. It is believed that the Panchak period begins when the Moon, while transiting through the zodiac signs of Aquarius and Pisces, passes through the Nakshatras of Dhanishtha, Shatabhisha, Purva Bhadrapada, Uttara Bhadrapada, and Revati. According to the Hindu Panchang, Panchak is considered an inauspicious period during which certain activities are prohibited. It is said that travelling in a south direction, constructing a roof for a house, performing the cremation rites of a deceased person, and purchasing items made of wood are strictly prohibited. During this period, the Moon will transit into Aquarius on the evening of 16th March at 6:13 PM, followed by a transit into Pisces. The Moon will remain in Pisces until 2:27 AM on the night of March 21. In March, the Panchak period will be from 16th to 20 March, and Chaitra Navratri will begin on 19th March 2026.
