When will the festival of Ganesh Chaturthi begin?

According to the Panchang, Chaturthi Tithi will begin on 14 September 2026 at 07:06 AM and will end on 15 September 2026 at 07:44 AM. According to the Udaya Tithi, the festival of Ganesh Chaturthi will be celebrated on Monday, 14 September 2026. The sthapana of Ganpati ji will be performed on this day. The auspicious time for Ganesh installation and worship will be from 11:02 AM to 1:31 PM. Lord Ganesha was born in the afternoon, which is why the sthapana and worship of Bappa are considered most auspicious in the afternoon.

Ganesh Sthapana Puja Vidhi (Ganesh Chaturthi 2026 Puja Vidhi)

• On the day of Ganesh Chaturthi, wake up early in the morning, take a bath and wear red or yellow clothes.
• After this, clean the place of worship or the north-east corner and sprinkle Gangajal.
• Spread a red or yellow cloth on a wooden plank. Make an octagonal lotus of Akshat on it.
• Install the idol of Lord Ganesha on the altar during the auspicious time. Chant “Om Gan Ganapataye Namah” at the time of installation.
• Bathe Bappa with Gangajal. Then offer them Roli, sandalwood, turmeric, Akshat, Durva, Moli and red flowers.
• Offer 21 Durva balls and his favourite modak or gram flour laddu to Shri Ganesha. Also offer bananas and fruits.
• Light incense sticks and read or listen to the fast story of Ganesh Chaturthi. At the end, perform Aarti with the whole family and pray to Bappa for happiness and prosperity.

Seeing the moon on the day of Ganesh Chaturthi is prohibited. According to religious beliefs, seeing the moon on this day brings false accusations on a person. If you have seen it by mistake, then chant the names of Lord Krishna immediately.

• Bappa's worship is considered incomplete without Durva.
• Do not use Tulsi leaves even by mistake in the worship of Lord Ganesha.
• During the 10 days of Ganeshotsav, maintain a completely sattvik atmosphere in the house and do not consume tamasic food even by mistake.
