Perform These Rituals on Vaishakh Amavasya
Light a diya for Lord Yamaraj
On the evening of Vaishakh Amavasya, light a diya filled with mustard oil or sesame oil in the southern direction of your home. It is said that this direction belongs to Lord Yamaraj. Lighting a diya in this direction brings peace to the souls of one's ancestors and brings their blessings upon the family forever.
Offering Pind-daan to Ancestors
On Amavasya, rituals of Tarpan and Pind-daan are performed for one's ancestors. It is believed that performing the Shraddh (ancestral rites) on Amavasya grants liberation to the ancestors and pleases them.
Light a diya under a Peepal Tree
On the day of Vaishakh Amavasya, the Peepal tree is worshipped. In the evening, circumambulate the Peepal tree and light a diya filled with mustard oil. Performing this ritual helps remove all obstacles and brings the blessings of one's ancestors.
